This is the October 2026 update of our skip bin hire cost guide. The January 2025 version is still online for reference, but its prices are now out of date. This version lists our current online prices for every bin size, shows how waste type and location change the price, and explains the extra charges that can apply.
Prices checked 8 October 2026. All prices are in Australian dollars, include GST and are our standard online prices for most of Greater Sydney. Prices can change, so the price shown when you book online is the one that applies to your booking.
What has changed since January 2025?
- Bin prices are higher. A general waste 2 Marrel bin is now $510 (up from $470) and a 14 Marrel bin is now $1,810 (up from $1,650). The increase ranges from $40 to $200 depending on bin size.
- A fuel surcharge currently applies. Online orders include a 4.8% fuel surcharge, shown as a separate line at checkout and on your receipt. Diesel prices have been unstable and the tipping fees we pay to dispose of your waste have risen sharply this year. Rather than lift every bin price, we added a surcharge that we can reduce or remove as these costs ease.
- This guide now shows prices by waste type and location, not just a single general waste price.
- We have added current prices for hook lift bins, asbestos bins and special items such as mattresses and tyres.
What determines skip bin hire costs?
- Bin size: larger bins hold more and cost more, but one correctly sized bin is usually better value than two smaller ones.
- Waste type: general waste, concrete and bricks, soil and asbestos are priced separately because they cost different amounts to process.
- Location: most Sydney suburbs pay the standard price. A small number of outer suburbs cost slightly more.
- Weight: every bin has a maximum weight. Going over it adds an excess weight charge.
- Hire length: online bookings include up to 7 days of hire. Longer hires attract an additional daily hire charge.
- Access and timing: a clear, ready site keeps the job to the standard service. Waiting time, relocations and collections we cannot complete can add charges.
- Council permits: if the bin has to sit on the road or footpath, your council may charge a permit fee.
- Fuel surcharge: currently 4.8% of the order total.
Marrel skip bin prices (general waste)
Marrel bins are our standard skip bins for homes, renovations and clean-ups. These are the current general waste prices for most Sydney suburbs, compared with the January 2025 guide.

Prices include GST and do not include the fuel surcharge. Not sure which size you need? Our skip bin sizes guide shows what each bin suits and how to load it.
Hook lift bin prices (general waste)
Hook lift bins are larger bins with a swing door, so bobcats, forklifts and wheelbarrows can load them easily. They suit major building works and large house clearances.
Bin | Dimensions (L x W x H) | Max weight | October 2026 |
13 Hook Lift | 5.8m x 2.2m x 1m | 4 tonnes | $1,490 |
18 Hook Lift | 6.4m x 2.4m x 1.3m | 4 tonnes | $1,960 |
25 Hook Lift | 6.4m x 2.4m x 1.65m | 4 tonnes | $2,330 |
30 Hook Lift | 6.4m x 2.4m x 2m | 4 tonnes | $2,660 |
Prices by waste type
Heavy materials are priced differently from general waste. Clean concrete and bricks cost less than general waste in most bin sizes, while soil, dirt and clay costs more because of its weight. These are the current prices for most Sydney suburbs.
Bin | General waste | Concrete / bricks | Soil / dirt / clay |
2 Marrel | $510 | $450 | $830 |
3 Marrel | $600 | $580 | $950 |
4 Marrel | $710 | $660 | Call us |
6 Marrel | $920 | $810 | $1,350 |
10 Marrel | $1,450 | Call us | Call us |
14 Marrel | $1,810 | Call us | Call us |
13 Hook Lift | $1,490 | $1,270 | $1,900 |
Where a size shows "Call us", that waste type is not available to book online in that bin. Concrete, brick and soil bins must contain only that material. Check what can go in a skip bin before you book.
Asbestos: bonded asbestos bins start from $2,000 for a 2 Marrel, $4,800 for a 6 Marrel and $6,000 for a 10 Marrel. Asbestos must be wrapped and handled to EPA requirements and must never go in a general waste bin.
Does my suburb change the price?
Most Sydney suburbs pay the prices above. A small number of outer suburbs, including Palm Beach, Avalon, Dural, Kurrajong and Thirlmere, cost $30 to $50 more for general waste and concrete bins, and $150 more for soil bins. Some remote locations cannot be booked online. If yours is one of them, or you are outside Sydney, contact us for a quote.
How the fuel surcharge works
The fuel surcharge is 4.8% of your order total after any coupon, and it is shown before you pay. For example, a 6 Marrel general waste bin at $920 has a fuel surcharge of $44.16, for a total of $964.16. The surcharge is reviewed as fuel and tipping costs change.
Rough budgets by project
Every job is different, but these ranges use our current general waste prices for most Sydney suburbs, before the fuel surcharge:
- Small clean-ups: 2 or 3 Marrel, $510 to $600
- Small to medium renovations: 3 to 6 Marrel, $600 to $920
- Large renovations and house clean-ups: 6 to 14 Marrel, $920 to $1,810
- Major building works: 13 to 30 Hook Lift, $1,490 to $2,660
Additional costs to keep in mind
- Excess weight: $330 inc GST per tonne over the bin's maximum weight.
- Engineered stone: any bin found to contain engineered stone is charged at $350 + GST per tonne.
- Special items: mattresses $250, tyres $160 and tree stumps over 50cm $165 each. Add them when you book.
- Prohibited items: batteries, chemicals, gas bottles, liquids and other hazardous waste must not go in the bin. Extra handling and tipping costs can be charged if they are found.
- Waiting time: 20 minutes on site is included. Extra time is charged at $165 + GST per hour.
- Longer hire: an additional daily hire charge applies beyond the 7 day maximum hire period.
- Relocation or futile collection: moving a bin after delivery, or a collection we cannot complete because the bin is not accessible, can be charged.
- Council permits: needed only if the bin is placed on public land. Fees vary by council, so check our council permits guide.
Full details are in our terms and conditions.
Tips to keep your skip bin costs down
- Choose the right size: one bin that fits the job costs less than a second bin later.
- Keep heavy materials separate: a 2 Marrel of clean concrete or bricks is $450, compared with $510 for general waste.
- Stay under the weight limit: soil, tiles and concrete add weight quickly, and excess weight is charged per tonne.
- Have the site ready: clear access on delivery and collection day avoids waiting and relocation charges.
- Book ahead: online prices are the same on any delivery day. Same-day delivery is available when you book before 10am on weekdays or 9am on Saturdays, and we do not deliver on Sundays.
- Compare a tip run properly: once fuel, tip fees and your time are counted, a bin can be the cheaper option. See how much it costs to take rubbish to the tip in Sydney.
